Endangered Giraffe Survey in Uganda

Endangered Giraffe Survey in Uganda

It was a privilege to join Julian from the Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) at the end of March for a couple of weeks in Kidepo Valley National Park in North Eastern Uganda.

The GCF have been working here alongside the Ugandan Wildlife Authority for the last few years as they monitor the tiny population of endangered Rothschild’s/Nubian giraffe that are hanging on by a thread.

We joined them during their annual survey to locate, identify and count all the individuals in the national park, take DNA samples and fit two solar powered GPS location units.

Here’s a video that we produced for GCF to showcase the work being done in Kidepo.
