I had been working with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation In Kidepo Valley National Park, Uganda. Where we had spent a week monitoring the tiny population of endangered Rothschild's giraffe that cling to existence here. We had just sedated and removed a collar from this large male, it was the end of the day and as he got up from the proceedure the sun was setting over the distant mountains, casting a beautiful golden glow across the landscape. He ran a few strides away from the team which is when I took this image, running free through the long grass which summed up our hope for these endangered giraffe, that against the odds they would survive and thrive.
